Adding using Numicon symbols
Today we took out some circular rubber mats and put a numicon shape on each and asked the children to throw two bean bags onto the shapes and add the numicon. Later we changed the numicon shapes for numbers. This group is working on single digit addition.

Numicon and the outdoors
My school has purchased Numicon for all of our classes recently, lucky us! We are all trying it out. But what does this have to do with outdoors, you may ask? Well I found two links on the Numicon site I thought I would share with you.http://www.numicon.com/free_resources/teaching_support_resources.aspx
I had some other ideas like hiding number bonds around in little bags and the children have to check the bag to see what they have and put in the correct place.
How have you taken numicon outside? Let me know.
